It’s been rough lately, really rough. J’s been struggling like never before and getting into loads of trouble at school which is an unwelcome novelty. He’s also been depriving me of sleep which just makes it that much harder.
That said, nothing like the headlines to put things in perspective. With how this county is going under the current administration, as well as the bulk of the nation that voted for him, I am again reminded that I am grateful that:
1) I have sons and not daughters
2) that they are old enough that most of the key vaccines that may be affected by the RFK’s latest insanity have been received, and
3) While puberty may be knocking, social immaturity will stave off romance and any sort of issues with that for at least another few years.
These are old, but always worth remembering:
I am so grateful that my children are verbal. They may not make sense all the time, but that’s true of many adults. I am grateful our health is good or at least good enough for now. I am grateful to have my family around me, all the necessities, and enough comforts to make the many obligations worthwhile.
